Cozying Up at Home with Melissa Sonico

Melissa Sonico aka @melissasonico is an English professor, writer, and jewelry designer. When she’s not busy being all those, plus a mom to her two littles, she’s sipping matcha to T. Swift and doing everything she can to not leave her house.

What are some ways you stay Idle?

Making cups of matcha and listening to the Sad Girl Autumn version of “All Too Well,” snuggling with my babes, and rereading short story collections. Wishing for more episodes of Sex Lives of College Girls.

What does being Idle mean to you?

Anything that doesn’t require me to leave the house. Putting on records, lighting some candles, and baking something are usually high on the list.

Currently, I’m:

Listening to: Frank Ocean’s Blond, Mitski, Boy Genius

Reading: Now that I’m done grading essays, I’m reading the newest Franzen

Cooking: I bake more than I cook, so salted chocolate chip cookies, but in the fall it’s pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting.

Three things you need to relax?

A comfy sweatshirt/robe, tea, music
